Digital Responsibility & Cyber Security: How EOS protects sensitive data

The protection of your personal data is essential to us. That is why we employ around 120 people across the Group to continuously improve data protection and information security. As part of our ‘Iron EOS’ programme, we have implemented a protection system that enables us to respond quickly and in a coordinated manner across the Group.

Business Ethics & Safeguard Compliance: Helping to shape our sector

The EOS Group is involved in 23 European debt collection associations and various initiatives to help create strict and binding standards and responsible guidelines in the debt collection sector. 

To eliminate irregularities, the EOS Group also operates a platform that offers whistleblowers a protected space and is integrated in the mechanism of the Otto Group. There, employees, suppliers, service providers and customers can report compliance violations at EOS and in the Otto Group.

Through its membership of numerous national and international associations, EOS is actively working to help design and implement ethical standards in the industry.

The business in non-performing loans calls for a high degree of responsibility. As part of a family company, the Otto Group, we are also mindful of pricing that meets the interests and ethical standards of all parties in the long term. For example, we co-invest with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a subsidiary of the World Bank, in non-performing loans and real estate in Eastern Europe, always in compliance with ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) standards.

When choosing partners and customers, EOS also applies strict criteria. This includes not just the regular checks of partners and companies in respect of how they handle issues like human rights, money laundering and corruption, but also an industry blacklist.

GDPR training

Protecting employee and customer data is essential. That is why EOS France ensures that its teams are aware of and trained in the fundamental principles of personal data protection (security, confidentiality, minimisation, fair and lawful collection, etc.) and IT security. These actions are carried out through various channels, including:

  • Dedicated training for operational employees as soon as they join the company;
  • An e-learning module to be completed within three months of hiring.
  • Regular awareness communications, reminding employees of the essential rules of the GDPR and best practices in data security.

In addition to these training and awareness-raising measures, EOS France has put in place rigorous ongoing monitoring mechanisms. These continuous checks are of paramount importance in ensuring that daily practices are fully compliant with current regulatory requirements and expectations, thereby guaranteeing the consistent and effective application of data protection standards.

IT security

Sécurité informatique

As cyberattacks are getting increasingly common and sophisticated, the IT department of EOS France regularly raises awareness among staff via internal training:

  • An e-learning module is included as part of the compulsory training programme. Refresher modules are sent out annually and updated based on the current affairs and new threats.
  • Awareness campaigns are sent out by email and broadcast on on-site digital screens.
  • Phishing test campaigns are sent out (at least twice a year), the results of which are shared with all staff.

AML/CFT awareness

Sensibilisation LCB-FT

Ensuring the reliability of customer payments is essential for EOS France. That is why all employees are trained in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing. This training aims to raise awareness among all staff as soon as they join the company, emphasising the need to exercise the utmost vigilance when receiving payments from customer-debtors. Particular attention is paid to the issuer, the amount and the origin of the funds in order to ensure compliance with practices.
